Costa Rica seems like an easy enough country to navigate independently, but what a completely different visit it would have been without the involvement of Il Viaggio and their ace guide Diego. By taking care of every last detail, resolving every unexpected glitch that popped up, we were able to give ourselves over to doing nothing more than enjoying what turned out to be one of our nicest trips ever. And poor Diego, we plied him with questions non-stop - his impressive pride and love for his country (which we found to be a national trait), and his profound and factual knowledge of his country's (and its neighbors') history and culture made our trip rich in ways that would have been completely impossible had we chosen to travel on our own.
