Health Services in Costa Rica
|
The Costa Rican government has long dedicated a significant portion of its national budget to education
and other social services, a policy whose result has been a healthy and educated population. The country
has a literacy rate and average life expectancy much closer to that of Western European nations.
In Costa Rica you can find numerous public and private schools, colleges and universities throughout the country.
Costa Rica has had a socialized medical system for nearly half a century. Health care is better in the big cities
than in the country. But even small villages have well stocked pharmacies.
